This fall we did a lot of work on the basement bar by expanding it, and adding decorative mirrors, signs and lights. In attempts to add to create a real bar-like atmosphere we also thought the bar needed a name. We decided that "The Lowdown" captured a certain spirit and seemed appropriate given the height of the ceilings...
In addition to the expanded bar, this year guests had a new room to explore. Earlier this summer, when I moved into Alex's home, we began working on my new room. The new room, which for obvious reasons we named the "Pink Room" provided a space for guests to escape the chaos, consume chocolate and indulge in some white wine from a fountain, all while listening to a lovely Bach playlist.
Don't worry, we kept things classy down in the bar as well.
There were a few sketchy points in the night, but all in all this was a party I will remember fondly for years to come. Thank you to Claire McKenna (Piersol)'s Trio + special guest Freddie Dickinson on trombone, our dinner and clean-up crew, our bartenders, and of course everyone who showed up! We hope to see you all next year.
