Last week my uncle Jim contacted me by phone and told me that he needed two dancing girls for a Gilligan's Island-themed retirement party. Long story short: I was his Mary Ann and Celeste was his Ginger.
The gig was a blast! We met some cool folks, ate Italian food and (I hope) impressed the crowd with our sequined hot pants -- oh, and dancing. This was the first time I didn't get nervous before going on stage. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a complete wreck before hitting the stage. I get butterflies in my stomach, I feel flushed, I sweat profusely...everything short of explosive diarrhea. You didn't need to hear that. I'm sorry (not really).
At any rate, it was a really fun experience for Celeste and I. It was particularly good for learning how to work with non-dancers with respects to communicating what needs to happen for us to do our performance. Those are good skills to have if we hope to do more gigs for non-dancers --which we do.
